Important Note:
Hi Lovelies! I am resuming the updates from today.
Just a few things I want you all to know. There will usually be two updates each week: Tuesday and Friday. This may depend on the buffer I have.
If I manage to build a bigger buffer, you might get extra updates, and if the buffer is smaller, there might be only one update that week. But my goal is to stay consistent with two updates every week.
Thank you so much for your patience, lovelies. 🤗❤️
Enjoy reading! ❤️

Can someone ever understand how it feels like to be a feather?
Weird question, right?
I mean, I didn't know I would be thinking about it, but here I was thinking weirdly like I was a feather, and why wouldn't I?
I felt way too light and warm and protected and held....
Wait! Held?
Yeah, right, held. I could feel something gripping my stomach tightly and securely. Not only that, the sense of warmth was coming from behind, touching my skin. Something warm and beating was plastered against my back. The beat rhythm was in sync like the beats of soft music. I felt too light and also began to feel cocooned in someone's arms. And who would hold me like that, except one man? My Husband.
I recalled how after my outburst last night, he stayed with me throughout, without speaking, just holding me. All I could remember was getting sleepy in his arms, but I couldn't recall anything else. The last thing I remembered was putting my head on his shoulder when my eyes began to feel droopy and holding him tight. Maybe I slept like that. He must have picked me up and taken me to bed.
That's why I could feel his comforting and warm touch and not Tharki's pointy bones. No dislike to Tharki, but heck, I felt heavenly in his arms. I wish I could wake up like that every day, listening to his heartbeats peacefully, wrapped in his secure arms. The world's mess seemed nothing now when he was holding me like that. I was neither scared nor worried about anything, just that the only man I ever admired was making me his priority. I couldn't stop myself from smiling at that realization.
'Wait, Simmi, he still has some redemption to do. Don't be too easy on him just because he took a bullet for you.'
From some corner, that suspicious voice of my inner self landed on my ears. I mean, how cruel she was, and she wanted me to be that cruel as well. I knew he had some redemption to do, but can't a needy woman just enjoy being in her husband's arms for once?
I didn't want to wake up. Not yet. I just wanted to be in the safe cocoon for some more time so that I could wrap that memory safely and cherish it while I would punish him for his past deeds.
Was I being selfish? No
But was I being needy and desperate? A little, maybe.
So, I chose to feed my needs and stayed in his arms. We were both wrapped in a cozy blanket. But the awareness that I slept that close with our legs entangled too had my heart rate spike significantly. No matter how hard I tried to go back to sleep, I just couldn't.
All of a sudden, I heard his phone ring. He pulled his arm away to pick up the call, and I already started hating whoever it was. He answered the call, but with his other hand started massaging my scalp softly. His fingers kneaded my hair, and the way they glided across, I could not help but almost moan. I stopped before the moan could slip out of my mouth.
Shit! That was an enjoyable torture.
"I get it." He said to whoever it was over the call. First, his touch ignited fire in me, making me a puddle, and now his grovelly sexy voice doubled the trouble.
I should have listened to my inner voice and would have left the bed. But now I was stuck, my legs were still trapped under his, so there was no way I could move.
"Postpone that meeting. I will join in the second half." It sounded like it was his assistant. I was getting jealous because I wanted my husband all to myself that early in the morning, but that stupid assistant ruined our moment. Glad Kiaan had a male assistant, otherwise my jealousy would have peaked to a level that I might have done something stupid. But if his assistant kept calling him in the morning, that day wasn't far when I would take action against him.
"Do I really have to tell you how to do your job?"
He was not yelling, but talking in a normal tone, which was unusual for him. He sounded so cool and gooooood. Yeah, right....not good but gooooood.
His morning voice was doing things to me that had ignited tingles in me, and I pinched my arm to make the tingles stop, but they didn't. The more he talked, the more those tingles reacted, and those fingers in my hair had put my body on fire.
Fuck! Kiaan Chauhan, you know how to hit the stop, don't you?
"Tell him, I will spend the day with my wife first," He said and then hung up. With my eyes closed, I couldn't help but smile again.
You heard that Mr. Assistant, Kiaan Chauhan wants to spend his day with his wife first.
That was basically a jibe at my inner self as well, who kept warning me to stay away from him. He kept massaging my scalp, and I was enjoying it fully. My lips burned with the smile, and since my back was turned to him, there was no way he could see me smiling at all.
"You can open your eyes and stop pretending you are asleep," he whispered before he left a kiss on my earlobe, causing my smile to drop and body to shiver.
He knew.
He was Kiaan Chauhan and not any ordinary man. He might not have seen me smiling, but he knew I was awake.
I still didn't open my eyes. I thought if I was persistent enough and pretended, then he would give up at the end, but who was I kidding? Suddenly, he grabbed my stomach, turned me completely, and now I lay on my back. I squealed when he did that so fast without any warning. Then he hovered over me, staring right into my widened eyes.
"Will you ever listen to me?"
There wasn't much of a gap between our faces.
My gaze shifted to his bare upper body. Trying to avoid his intense eyes, I ended up noticing his glistening skin instead, and I gulped.
The taut muscles of his arms made him look unfairly masculine. Even the bandage over his wound looked small and insignificant on him.
His eight-pack abs were symmetrically defined, brushing the edge of his V-line that disappeared into his pants.
Not sure if I was ever going to listen to him, but I would surely stare at him for eternity.
I guess when God was creating him, he had extra handsomeness left, and since he didn't want to waste it, he put all of it into one man. My man.
I noticed there were some scars on his chest. They were lighter, as if quite old. They wouldn't be very visible from far, but from this close, they were obvious.
My gaze landed on one prominent scar, right over his heart.
I lifted my hand and placed my index finger on it as I whispered, "You have scars."
"Uh-huh...." His voice was quiet. "You don't like them?"
"That's not what I said," I replied instantly, not wanting to make him uncomfortable.
"Are these battle wounds?" I was curious and couldn't stop myself from prying into the history of those marks.
"Battle?" He let out a breath. "I thought you would call them...." He stopped, making me look up at him.
I knew what he presumed I would call them.
"That I would call them the scars you deserve?" I finished for him.
He nodded.
He thought I hated him, I guessed. But that wasn't the case anymore. I was not going to pretend to hate him. I was tired of pretending. I was softening up to him now, and I wasn't going to be petty and hurt him like that. Even if I were pretending I would have never said that he deserved those scars. Even in my pretend hate, I cared for him, always.
And those scars...they were just another reminder that I didn't know anything about my husband.
I didn't know his likes, dislikes, who hurt him, who didn't, while he....he knew everything about me. My life was an open book and nothing much to explore in it. But he was still a mystery to me, and that had my heart ache that I didn't know a lot about the man I cared about, that I did not know enough about the man I wished to spend my entire life with.
I spread my palm over his heart, softly feeling his heartbeat.
"I don't know you, Kiaan. I don't know anything. And the secrecy is eating my brain, clawing at my heart every day, but...."
"But what?" He asked softly, bringing his face a little closer, tucking his thumb and forefinger under my chin, and making me meet his eyes.
"But you know me." My voice shook. "From my likes and dislikes... to even my triggering points. It's like we are..."
"One soul," he finished softly, like he had been waiting years to say it.
I stared at him with longing. I didn't want to be just his wife, I wanted to be his everything, his confidante, his desire, his healer, his...love....
But I wasn't anything else yet, apart from his wife, and that had my heart broken.
"You wanna take a peek?" He asked.
"In your life?" I asked, hopeful, eyes lighting up at his question.
"In my truth, sweetheart." His thumb brushed my cheek. "Because you...beautiful young lady..." He kissed the tip of my nose, and for the first time, he smiled real. Not a smirk. Not a mask. A real, heartfelt smile and finished with,"...are my life."
"So tell me, how do you take a peek into you, huh?"
I blinked. "That's a bold claim for someone who hated me."
"Hated you?" he repeated, almost amused.
"Was only hatred evident to you?" He seemed hurt, looking at me with sad, accusatory eyes, like I had done something wrong to him. But what?
"Do you really think it was only hate all these years?" My heart skipped a beat.
Was there more to read between the lines?
And that's when it hit me.
Was that hate ever real?
Because if it was not, it was going to hurt more, because then even his hate was fake for me. He stared intensely at me, his lips hovered over mine, almost about to brush, and I didn't wish to stop him.
"Let me in, firefly, and I will...." His nose brushed over my chin, and then it glided down my throat as he finished," I will...bare myself to you..."
Thousands of goosebumps awakened all at once, and I gripped the bedsheet tighter with both of my hands. I couldn't control anymore. I let out a soft moan, and I heard his groan, raw and uncontrolled.
"Forgive me...." He said as he left a kiss on my throat. My eyes closed on their own accord, my back arched.
"You have someone's blood on your hands....how can you...can you expect me to forgive you?" I managed to whisper, but I was already floating in a world of ecstasy I had never stepped into before.
I had never let any man touch me, but this man was doing more than just touching. He was asking a way into my soul.
"If carving out my heart would make you forgive me....then do it..."
He bit my throat as he resolutely said, "Kill me."
And how does someone kill the person their heart beats for?
How does someone stab the one they once dreamed of building a beautiful life with?
Could anyone really be that cruel?
Because I wasn't. I could never do that. I used to think only he was a hypocrite, not realizing I was a bigger one. I claimed to despise him because he killed someone, yet I let him touch me with those same blood-covered hands willingly. And if someone asked me whether I was sane to do that, my answer would be yes. In sanity or insanity, I knew I was going to choose this man over and over. This wasn't plain feelings: this was more, something dangerous and deranged.
He peppered kisses on my throat, demanding I forgive me like he was chanting a prayer.
All of a sudden, there was a loud bang on the door, startling me. My eyelids fluttered open as I came out of the hypnotic trance.
"Guys, wake up...Just because you are newlyweds doesn't mean you are supposed to skip breakfast. Be there in half an hour," it was Di's voice, and I heard her giggling too, along with Saavi's. They had come to tease us. I turned red completely, realizing how vulnerable I was beneath him, giving him every power over me.
Kiaan exhaled, rolled his eyes staring at the closed door, and then put his head over my chest. That was it. My breathing stopped completely now. But my heart paced faster than it had ever.
"God! Sometimes I wish to put my family in jail," he murmured, and his lips touched my skin over the fabric. Even that indirect contact drew another moan trapped in, pleading to come out, but I didn't let it. His head was tucked against my collarbone, and now he was holding one of my hands, playing with my fingers, like it was normal, like lying on top of me didn't make him feel what it was making me feel.
"Come out, soon...." Di yelled again, laughing.
"Shut Up! D," Kiaan yelled back, and then I heard rushed footsteps fading away. He kept touching my fingers softly, and I could feel a twist in my lower abdomen, going further down. My breath turned really shallow now once I actually started breathing.
"Why is your heart ready to explode, baby? We haven't done anything yet...." He said in a low voice.
Baby? Since when was I his baby?
I was about to have a heart attack. Yes, I was going to die.
"Kiaan...." I whispered.
"Hmmm...baby, five minutes please...Just five..." He said as he held me tight, eyes closed now, like he wanted to take a nap like that.
Was he clueless about what he was doing to me? Or was he enjoying everything?
But no, those weren't the actual questions that bothered me. What bothered me was:
Did I end up in some other universe?
Did someone eat my husband and leave an alien for me?
This goofy man did not seem to be my husband. So I did the only right thing I could think of. I screamed. He lifted his head from my chest and stared at me, horrified in shock. I pushed him away, got off the bed, and ran out of the room shouting, "There is another man in my room, and he is not my husband."

Was that really Kiaan or someone else? 🤔
What do you all think Simran would do now? 🤔
The next update comes out on 10 March. Stay tuned. 🤗
Do share your views about the chapter. It would mean a lot. ❤️
